Frequently Asked Questions
We are a Ugandan platform that allows people to trade their pre loved wedding items.
A seller is someone who wants to re gift a wedding item. This might be something they wore once or a few times or something that perhaps they bought that did not fit them. You should
only sell items that are in good condition.
Anyone seeking to buy an item on Chatu kadali
No. Sellers pay a fee per item. The fee they pay is determined based off of price tiers. For instance, if the item they are selling is priced at 100,000shs, the seller will have to pay Chatu Kadali a fee of 10,000shs before the item is listed on the site. Buyers do not pay a fee.
Buyers do not need to create an account to buy. Sellers need an account. An account allows you to put up items and manage them.
All wedding outfits are welcome as long as they are of good quality and in good condition. The admin will let you know if your item is not approved based off of quality.
Chatu Kadali will do our best to market your items on ours and our partners’ social platforms.
Should your item not sell however, you will NOT get your subscription fee back.
Buying
There are no refunds so inspect the item thoroughly before you pay for it. Contact us for guidance when it comes to more expensive items like wedding gowns that need special fitting.
If it is still in good condition, absolutely! Create a seller account and re gift it.
Buying an item for your wedding is sometimes an emotional choice so you might want to look at it, touch it and see how it makes you feel. This might be the case for high value items like wedding dresses. Ask the seller if you can have a look at the dress before committing. Before going to view the dress, be sure that your measurements are similar to that of the dress.
Selling
You can sell shoes, dresses, shirts, trousers, hats, ties and so much more. As long as it would work at a wedding, kasiki or honey moon, we would love to see it. As long as it could work for a bride, groom, the wedding party or even a guest, you can sell it.
Quality is important to us so items will be vetted before going up on the site.
Yes, if you bought an item and it didn’t fit you or you just never wore it, you can sell it.
However, our ethos is to sell pre loved and vintage items. A lot of wedding outfits are used once and go to waste. This isn’t only costly on our wallets but it takes a toll on the earth too. Regifting significantly cuts down on that waste.
Not at all, do you have a great quality piece? If yes, you’re welcome to sell.
No, ensure that you do an exchange. Hand over the item once you get the money.
Our advice is to insist on a direct deposit if being paid in the bank.
It’s all in the pictures. Take the same care as you would if you were posting your picture on Instagram. Make sure the light is right, the background is clean and that there are several angles.
If the piece is damaged, don’t be afraid to point it out
This might happen when you have multiple offers on a hot item. To beat the competition, a buyer might offer you more. Be careful as you deal with someone who offers a price way above what you requested, they could be fraudulent.
At Chatu kadali, we are striving to create a community of trust. If you already gave another buyer a firm commitment, you should sell to them instead. It would be sad to think you have found the perfect shoes, only for them to no longer be available.
For safety, do not direct people to your home. Meet them in a public space to do the exchange.
